Coming Attraction!

SPORTS WALL OF FAME AT THE OLD SCHOOL HISTORY MUSEUM

The new display is “under wraps” until the special unveiling presentation event on Sunday, April 7 at 2:00 p.m.

Eatonton, GA, has an amazing history that visitors to the Old School History Museum enjoy regularly.  But who would have imagined that this small city could claim eleven athletes who collectively have been enshrined in 29 Sports Halls of Fame!   Their sports include football, baseball, basketball, track, golf, and skeet shooting…five are also outstanding coaches!

If you live in Eatonton, you may know some of them or their families but didn’t know of their amazing success.  Soon you will be able to learn about them through a permanent “Sports Wall of Fame” exhibit created by the Old School History Museum.

The Grand Opening of the exhibit will take place at our regular “Sunday At The Museum” event on April 7th, and you are invited to see the exhibit and meet some of the Hall of Famers and their families.

Remember that there is no charge for any of the OSHM events, and you are invited to stay after to meet the athletes and enjoy light refreshments!

But I just cannot leave you without telling you about one of these fascinating athletes.  He was born in Eatonton many decades ago. While he was still a young teen, his family moved to Florida.  He would become one of Florida’s most famous athletes, excelling in three sports through high school and college.  After college he moved to California and became an actor, spending the next 38 years as an extra or leading man in over 280 movies…many you have probably seen!  He was also a stunt man performing on screen in over 140 stunts!

Join us on April 7th at the Plaza!
